Instructions
- In a bowl add whole wheat flour, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, salt, 1 tsp of hot oil and mix it together. Add water little by little and knead it into a soft pliable dough. Set it aside for 10 mins.
- Divide the dough into 7 equal parts and make roundels.
- Dust a ball of dough with some whole wheat flour and roll it into a circle. Apply a few drops of oil and spread it evenly.
- From one end, fold the circle towards the center. Repeat the same from the other end.
- Now fold the top end towards the center. Next fold the bottom end towards the center.
- Finally fold at the center so that the dough looks like a folded kerchief.
- Dust it slightly with flour and roll into a square, keeping up with the shape. Roll equally on all sides to get the square shape.
- Heat a tawa/flat pan. Gently put the rolled out Masala Paratha and cook it until tiny bubbles appear on the surface. Flip it to the other side and drizzle some oil.
- As the other side gets golden brown spots, flip it again and drizzle few drops of oil. Remove from heat. Repeat this with the rest of the dough balls.
- Serve hot with chopped onions, lemon wedges with a side dish of your choice. I served it with Kadai Paneer.
Note –
- Adjust spices as per preference.
- Instead of onion seeds, black/white sesame seeds can be added.
- Additionally, finely chopped coriander can be added while making the dough.
- Use ghee or butter to cook the parathas for extra flavor.
