In a bowl add whole wheat flour, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, salt, 1 teaspoon of hot oil and mix it together. Add water little by little and knead it into a soft pliable dough. Set it aside for 10 mins.
Divide the dough into 7 equal parts and make roundels.
Dust a ball of dough with some whole wheat flour and roll it into a circle. Apply a few drops of oil and spread it evenly.
From one end, fold the circle towards the center. Repeat the same from the other end.
Now fold the top end towards the center. Next fold the bottom end towards the center.
Finally fold at the center so that the dough looks like a folded kerchief.
Dust it slightly with flour and roll into a square, keeping up with the shape. Roll equally on all sides to get the square shape.
Heat a tawa/flat pan. Gently put the rolled out Masala Paratha and cook it until tiny bubbles appear on the surface. Flip it to the other side and drizzle some oil.
As the other side gets golden brown spots, flip it again and drizzle few drops of oil. Remove from heat. Repeat this with the rest of the dough balls.
Serve hot with chopped onions, lemon wedges with a side dish of your choice. I served it with Kadai Paneer.
Note –
Adjust spices as per preference.
Instead of onion seeds, black/white sesame seeds can be added.
Additionally, finely chopped coriander can be added while making the dough.
Use ghee or butter to cook the parathas for extra flavor.
