Congress Kadalekai | Spicy Masala Peanuts
Crispy, crunchy spicy roasted peanuts recipe!
MEASUREMENT
1 cup = 250ml, 1 tablespoon = 15ml, 1 teaspoon = 5ml
Ingredients
- 1 cup Raw Peanuts
- 2 teaspoon Oil
- ½ teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
- ½ teaspoon Black Pepper Powder
- ¼ teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- Big Pinch of Asafoetida
- Salt as needed
- 10 Curry Leaves
Instructions
- Heat a thick bottomed pan, add raw peanuts. Dry roast them on low flame, giving a constant stir.
- As the peanuts pop and are aromatic, remove from heat. Let them cool down.
- Remove peanut skin by rubbing peanuts between your palms, there by breaking each peanut in half.
- In the same pan, heat oil. Add curry leaves followed by red chilli powder, black pepper powder, turmeric powder and asafoetida. Fry for few seconds.
- Add deskinned peanuts and mix them well so that the spices are coated.
- Add salt as needed and fry for a minute. Remove from heat.
- Crush the curry leaves and once cooled down, store in an airtight container. Serve with coffee/tea.
