Simple and delicious Diwali Savory – Butter Murukku recipe with detailed step-wise pictures. Prepare this easy butter murukku recipe for Deepavali or even as a snack for your tea/coffee.
Following the first sweet recipe of Karachi Halwa, here is a simple yet extremely addictive Deepavali savory recipe – Butter Murukku. I have already posted different murukku recipes here and this is special because it is very simple. Unlike the usual murukku or chakli recipe, butter murukku is bite-sized and broken. So even someone who is new to cooking can also make this snack with ease.
As butter is used in making the dough for this recipe, it is literally melt in mouth and soft, while being crunchy. In popular restaurants and sweet shops, there are many variations done – like adding pepper powder, cumin seeds and so on. But the base recipe with just salt and butter with a hint of sesame seeds is my favorite.

Note –
- I used store bought rice flour and gram flour, the recipe works just fine.
- For a softer version, replace half of the gram flour with ground roast gram dal.
