Flavorful & delicious Homemade Vanilla Latte recipe with detailed step by step pictures. Easy Homemade Vanilla Coffee Latte recipe!

    vanilla-latte-3

Couple of weeks back the husband and I went on a coffee date. I love these kind of small, simple pleasures of life and very much look forward to them. At the same time, the rate at which the price of a flavored coffee is increasing, I don’t think it would be very wise of us to indulge often. So, I make attempts at replicating our favorite coffee at home and this recipe is a result of one such attempt.

    vanilla-latte-4

So the husband ordered a Vanilla Latte at Coffee Café Day and really liked the vanilla flavor in the coffee. Except for the fragrance, I don’t think Vanilla added anything to the taste of the coffee itself given how strong coffee is. As good food is all about tickling all senses, this vanilla fragrance did some magic and the husband asked if I could make it at home. Now that shouldn’t be too difficult right?! Right. Not.

I don’t have an electric frother and don’t have a coffee maker too! The coffee latte is not much of a latte if not for the milk froth on top and believe it or not, that’s where I had the trouble. I whisked up hot milk to get enough froth but it just wouldn’t last longer. Heh 😀 But that’s no problem. I quickly clicked my pictures and served up the Vanilla Latte to the husband who was mighty impressed. We are sure to repeat this a lot more in our household. And guess what, making this Vanilla Latte at home you are sure to save a fortune 🙂

    MEASUREMENT

    1 cup = 250ml, 1 tablespoon = 15ml, 1 teaspoon = 5ml

    Ingredients

    • ½ cup Thick Coffee Decoction
    • 1.5 cups Milk
    • 4 teaspoon Sugar or as needed
    • ½ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
    • ½ teaspoon Brown Sugar to sprinkle on top, optional

    Instructions

    • Heat milk to the required temperature. Take half cup of milk and pour it into an air tight container and seal it tight. Vigorously shake the container up and down for 2 mins. This would turn the milk frothy. Reserve it for later.
    • Add the coffee decoction to the rest of the milk along with sugar and vanilla extract. Mix well until the sugar is dissolved.
    • Pour the coffee into 2 cups and now pour the frothy milk slowly on top. Sprinkle ¼ teaspoon of brown sugar on top of milk froth on each cup.

    Notes

    • Refer here to make the thick coffee decoction.
    • Instead of coffee decoction, instant coffee powder can be used. 1 teaspoon of instant coffee powder for each cup of milk. Increase the quantity of milk to 2 cups.
    • Use good quality vanilla extract for best results.
    • Use an electric frother to get the milk foam if you have one.
    • Exercise caution while shaking hot milk in an air tight container. Make sure to seal it tightly.
    • I used 2 teaspoon of sugar for each cup of milk. Adjust as per preference.
