Less than two days to usher in the new year and it’s that time of the year again, to reminisce and round up the last 365 days, looking forward with happiness and joy for the upcoming new year. Keeping up with my blogging tradition of a yearly round up (2015 & 2016), here comes my 2017 retrospective – food blogging wise.
2017 would go down as the year of growth for me, food blogging wise. I am usually not a person to go behind numbers but tell me who wouldn’t be motivated by the increasing follower-count or visitors? My Facebook page has over 10K followers and my Instagram page has over 14K followers – all organic by the way and that’s what makes me a slightly proud. I tried to post video recipes on my YouTube channel whenever I could, despite a crazy work schedule and it’s reassuring to have new subscribers every day and to get positive feedback.
I posted a total of 93 recipes this year, which is not in par with 2015/16 but all wanted to do was keep this blog running with recipes I loved, while juggling busy work life as well as personal life. I decided to let go of my obsession, a little bit this year promising myself that I will burn out in the whole process of keeping up with it all. Instead I chose to pour my heart into the little time I got, so that each recipe was carefully thought out, tried and tested thoroughly! More than ever, I found that cooking is the easiest part of food blogging, this year. I still have a lot of catching up to do, getting on board with Pinterest, Google+ and that’s plan 2018.
Talking of 2017 and why it is my year of growth, I took on a nasty copyright infringement, head on. No one should be able to get away stealing your hard work and I ensured that the website that stole of content of over 300 recipes was taken down! My small win, against the big bad internet. I finally began monetizing this blog in 2017, if not for anything, at least to keep up with the maintenance costs. It was a BIG decision, a major turning point in my blogging journey. A cherry on top of the cake – features and mentions along with being chosen among Top 100 Indian Food Blogs and Top 21 Indian Food Blogs! Couple of years ago, if someone had told what was in store for me down the line, I would have not believed that at all. Yet, here I am 🙂
With no further ado, let me thank everyone of you (including all of you silent readers) for supporting me strongly with your follows, likes, comments and positive feedback. You are the reason this blog exists. My note of thanks would be incomplete without talking about the amazing support system I have – my family, they are truly incredible and I know I can count on all of you in the coming year too! I am more than determined to keep this going 🙂
